For Australian sole traders, freelancers and creatives
Your inbox, swept for deductions.
Sweep Tax finds the receipts and invoices sitting in your Gmail and your photos, pulls out the GST, and sorts each one into an ATO expense category. Tax time is a spreadsheet instead of a lost weekend.

How it works
Three steps, then it runs on its own
Connect Gmail
Sign in with Google and give read-only access to the mailbox your receipts land in. Google Workspace mailboxes work too, and a business can have more than one.
We sweep the year
Sweep Tax reads the financial year you pick, finds the emails that are receipts, invoices or tax invoices, pulls out the date, biller, GST and total, and files the source document under your business and an ATO category.
Export the spreadsheet
Check the table, fix anything the model read wrong, then hand over a CSV, XLSX or PDF summary — or a ZIP with every original document, sorted into folders.
What it does
Built around how Australian tax records actually work
Sweep Tax records and categorises. You and your accountant decide what to claim.
A cheap prefilter reads first
Sender, subject, attachments and amounts are checked by plain rules, so only messages that look like receipts are read by AI. Newsletters and chit-chat never get past that step.
PDF, photo and email-body extraction
Attached PDFs, photographed receipts and plain HTML order confirmations are all read. Line items, ABN, GST and totals are pulled out and kept with the original.
ATO categories built in
Every record lands in D1–D5 or Non-deductible, with a reason. Anything $300 or more is flagged as a depreciating asset, so it is not claimed outright by mistake.
GST captured or estimated
When the tax invoice states GST, we record it. When it does not, we estimate the GST component and mark it as an estimate, so your accountant can see the difference.
Duplicates flagged
The same receipt forwarded twice, or a PDF plus its HTML twin, is matched by content hash and amount, so you do not claim it twice.
Foreign currency at RBA rates
USD, EUR, GBP and NZD purchases are converted to AUD using the Reserve Bank's daily rate for the receipt date, with the original amount kept alongside.
Photos from your phone
Install Sweep Tax to your home screen and photograph paper receipts on the spot. They go through the same extraction and filing as email.
CSV, XLSX, PDF and ZIP exports
A spreadsheet for your accountant, a PDF summary by category, or a ZIP of every source document in ATO-category folders. Filter by financial year, business or category first.
More than one business
Keep a DJ business, a design side hustle and a family trust apart. Each business has its own mailboxes, records, exports and members.
Built for
- DJs and musicians
- Tradies
- Creatives
- Consultants
- Side income
- Bookkeepers
Sweep Tax was built by a working DJ who was tired of digging through a year of email the week before tax time. It suits anyone whose receipts arrive by email and who lodges an Australian return.
Your mail stays yours
- Read-only Gmail access. We never send, delete or label mail.
- Receipt text goes to Claude for extraction and nothing else. It is not used to train models.
- Nobody reads your mail. Only the emails that pass the receipt prefilter are processed, by software.
- Delete everything in one click. Records, files and mailbox tokens go immediately.

FAQ
Common questions
- Is this tax advice?
- No. Sweep Tax records and categorises your expenses using the ATO's labels. Whether something is deductible, and how much, is a decision for you and your accountant.
- Which mailboxes are supported?
- Gmail and Google Workspace mailboxes. You can connect several to one business. Other providers are not supported yet — forward receipts to a Gmail address, or upload a photo from your phone.
- Can I add my accountant?
- Yes. Invite them as a member of your business and they can check the table and run exports. You can remove them at any time. See support for the steps.
- What happens when I reach my monthly cap?
- Scanning pauses. Everything already extracted stays where it is, and scanning starts again on the 1st of the next month, or as soon as you upgrade — or buy a one-off top-up pack of credits that never expire.
- Can I delete my data?
- Yes, straight away. Delete a record, a business or your whole account from settings. Files and database rows go immediately; backups roll off within 30 days. Details are in the privacy policy.
